Texas A&M University senior Katie Price completed a virtual internship with Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits during July.

Southern Glazer’s is the largest wine and spirits distributor in the United States. Price, an animal science student, wanted to dive deep into the sales world and took an internship working with the sales team at Southern Glazer’s.

Price said, “I was honored to grow both personally and professionally throughout the internship.”

She learned multiple aspects of the sales industry, as well as the business world in general. While at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences career fair Price met with Glazer’s recruiters and was immediately drawn to the professional opportunities they were offering.

Although many internships were cancelled due to COVID-19, Southern Glazer’s allowed Price to continue with a modified virtual experience.

Price said, ‘“Even though the internship was virtual, Southern Glazer’s did a great job at planning daily activities, from happy hours to interactive zoom meetings with Southern Glazer’s executives and other companies.”

Price said this internship taught her that she enjoys working within a team and that this experience was far more helpful in determining her professional career than anything she has experienced before.

Price said, “The most valuable thing I learned from this internship was that sales is not for me, I am more interested in an HR role after this experience.”

Price knows that she is very lucky to have an internship during this time of COVID-19, she is also thankful that Southern Glazer’s triumphed through all of the curveballs and challenges that have been thrown at them during this uncertain time. Price will apply the lessons she learned through this internship throughout her future professional career.

After she graduates Price plans on moving to Colorado to live near family and she hopes to find a job where she works with HR, and then pursue a master’s in psychology.

Reflecting back on the internship Price said, “My internship with Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits was an eye-opening experience that I am forever grateful for.”
